Questionnaires
- Showed who was listening to the radio and when, this therefore allowed us to decide the most appropriate timing to place our news bulletin at.
- Showed what people are interested in listening to, showing us the best way to attract listeners.
- We learnt that during commuting times was the most popular time that people listened to the radio, therefore the time we would want to play our bulletin at as it would reach the most people.
Artefacts
- This allowed me to analyse and listen to how other radio stations present their news bulletins.
- I learnt that it is a common factor for male and female presenters to be used to create a contrast and this is something I need to take into consideration.
- It also showed me that there is often backing music in news bulletins, this creates the correct mood for the news, usually slightly dramatic.
- The beat and tempo of the jingles before news bulletins create a mood for the time of day, for example in the morning cheery to prepare people for their day.
Product placement
- Travel times are the best time to place our news bulletin due to the amount of people tuning in from cars, this showed us that either morning or evening would be when we want to place our news bulletin mainly.
- We learnt that it will reach a vast amount of people during peak hours, therefore a very appealing time to have any radio show broadcast.
