Morning
Research showed that a morning breakfast show would be a good time to place our news bulletin, this is because it is a peak travel time with a vast amount of people tuning in. The content would need to be of a more ‘cheery’ atmosphere to prepare people for the day ahead of them, within a travel update they would want to know any problems on major roads that will concern them.
Travel
Within our morning bulletin we would include a travel update; this would be something necessary to most listeners as many tuning in at this time would be travelling on the local and major roads and would therefore benefit from a traffic update informing them of which roads to be avoiding. Being the peak travelling time roads are garunteed to be conjested in areas therefore from a local radio station this would be expected by listeners.
Jingles
As other local radio stations do, we would also include a jingle within oour news bulletin that includes the name of our radio station to inform listeners of the radio station. The jingle would be of an upbeat theme and we would aim for it to set a good mood for listeners ready for their day ahead. As well as informing listeners and setting a mood, the jingle would also be a good way for us to move from one part of the bulletin to the next in a smooth manner.
News
Travel fits into the news section as mentioned before; the news will also feature national and local headlines with a brief summary of the major information for the big stories. This will inform locals of incidents in their home area as well as larger incidents nationally.
Presenters
As found in my research from listening to other radio stations, male and female presenters are often used to create a contrast for the listeners. For example, within our news bulletin we could use a female presenter to do an interview/voxpot followed by the news with a male presenter, allowing the audience to feel the contrast in atmosphere through voice as well as background sound.
Voxpop
Depedning on where the voxpop takes place, possibly a town centre, a school, countryside etc we can use different sound effects to ensure the location is emphasised. For example, if it were to be in a town centre we could use traffic sound effects with beeping horns and the sound of lots of voices creating a bustle type feeling for the audience. It will need to quick direct quesions with on the spot answers giving the impression that's its been random with a member of the public, we would ask things such as opinions on perhaps a headlining or local news story.
Feautures
Within the news bulletin it is important to have a small selection of activity, we could include features such as; questions to the audience and request calls and texts with their views, clips of current music in the charts, competitions and games.
Sound
Being the morning sound should be an important part of the news bulletin, it is important to keep the show upbeat as everyone still has the day ahead of them. We could use jingles and backing music to do this, through using backing music behind the presenting it adds to the atmosphere and gives a consistantancy of up beat feeling.
Evening
Research showed that evening could be a potential time to place our news bulletin; being a peak time there are a vast amount of people travelling and tuning into the radio for entertainment on their journeys. The content of an evening news bulletin and radio show needs to be of a more calm atmosphere, people tend to have had a long day and therefore don’t want music of a too up beat content.
Travel
Being another travelling peak time, a radio update would be necessary in our news bulltein for afternoon. However it would perhaps not be so much of a detailed update as a morning traffic update would be, due to people travelling at more varied times, major roads in the local area would still be highlighted however.
Jingles
A jingle is necessary to inform the listener of the radio station as well as setting an appropriate mood for the show and for the listener. Therefore, with the news bulletin taking place in the afternoon/evening show, we would make the jingle to be of a more calm atmosphere than a morning one, it would still include the radio stations name and have backing music like a jingle should however to a more relaxed tempo.
News
Travel is again included in this section; listeners will also be interested in events that have occured during the day so we would list headlines of national and local news as well as breifly summarising the bigger headlines.
Presenters
As found in my research from listening to other radio stations, male and female presenters are often used to create a contrast for the listeners. However, being in the evening it is not usually expected for there to be so much of a chatty atmosphere therefore we wouldn't necessarily have to have any more than one presenter for our news bulletin.

Sound
Sound
In an evening show it is not so much of a benefit to have continuous sound, being the end of the day and with a lot of travelling people want to be in more of a calm mood therefore it is not so necessary to have backing music to presenting etc, however jingles are still appropriate.
